The curtain came down on the hurling season for our U21's on Sunday last after an epic battle in Patrickswell against Killulta Gaels. After a game in which we played good solid hurling, our wides tally told at the end and we went down by the narrowest of margins. With a number of minors coming through and the bulk of the current U21 team available again next year a county title is not far away for these south champions.
The club would like to thank everyone that got involved with looking after all of our teams this season or helped out in any way.

This week the club would like to wish the U21 hurlers, their manager Mike Sexton and trainer Stephen Lucy the best of luck in their game against Killulta Gaels. These lads have been working very hard in the field for the last few months and having won the south final recently and having a number of minors involved also with both south and county medals won, confidence is high and competition for places is tough.

Congratulations from all at Croom gaa go to our ladies footballers who won their county final against St. Sennan's in fine style in Coolcappagh on Sat last. Croom ran out deserving winners on a scoreline of 3-06 to 0-13 and saw Sam Sexton lift the cup. Special mention must go to Aisling O'Kelly who made a string of fine saves in goal and gets our player of the game, well done to all involved.
Our U14 hurlers were defeated by a strong Rathkeale outfit in their county semi final and no doubt these talented young hurlers will bounce back under the guidance of Aidan, Paddy and Seamus.

8/09/08
This week the weather played havoc with our games but the one's that went ahead were a great success.
Our minor hurlers travelled to Meanus to replay the South Final with Hospital/Herbertstown and it turned out to be a cracker. Croom's scores were coming from play while Hospital were punishing us from free's and we went in at the break 2 points up scoring 1-04 to Hospital's 0-5. After the break we pushed a few more points ahead with a well taken goal from Shane MacNamara but back came Hospital with a goal of their own and with 10 min left it was level, the game turned in our favour with the introduction of Bibo Cahill who scored a goal and a point in quick succession. With the last puck of the game Connor Alice scored a goal from midfield to put gloss on what was a closer game than the final scoreline of 4-12 to 1-13 would suggest. It would be unfair to pick a man of the match because all played well, well done to all involved. In the other game, also a South Final our U14 hurlers coached by Aidan Mangan and Paddy Hynes accounted for Glenroe on a scoreline of 3-12 to 1-08 and they now head to Ballyagran on Sun next for the County Semi-final, throw in is 12.30pm, best of luck lads.
Results of our weekly lotto, 2, 9, 10, 22, no winner, €40 lucky dip winners, (1) Ger Flynn, Carrigeen. (2) Susan Nolan, 10 Elm Park Drive. (3) Anthony Fitzgerald, Caherass. (4) Bridget Hogan, Meanus. (5) Justin Keys, Manister. Next weeks jackpot is €11,200 draw to be held in Hickeys Bar.
17/08/08
Results our weekly lotto, 1, 2, 5, 17, No Winner. € 40 lucky dip winners (1) Peggy Carey, Toureen. (2) John O'Callaghan c/o Hogans. (3) John Brennan, St Sennans Tce. (4) Diarmuid Flynn c/o Ann Sexton. (5) Margaret Kiely, Elm Park. Next weeks jackpot is €10,800 draw to be held in Hickeys Bar.

All roads lead to Ballyagran this Sun, for our senior hurling championship clash with divisional side, Western Gaels who at one stage led Patrickswell by 10 points and defeated Knockainey by 2 points, despite hitting 18 wides. This will be a tough, hard game and we will need to be fully focused. Training has being going well and confidence is high, unfortunately both Niall Cregan and Stephen Moore are injured and will miss the game. The club would encourage all our supporters to get behind our team, fly your flags and cheer them to victory in Ballyagran, throw in is at 7.15pm.
The U21 hurlers played Blackrock in Croom last Tue and came back from what looked like certain defeat to score 2 goals in injury time to snatch a draw. Blackrock looked the better team for most of the game but when we decided to hurl they were under immense pressure and we took some fine scores. Best for Croom were Gavin O'Shea, Ger Flynn and man of the match was Kevin Mac, well done lads.

21/07/08
Well done, to our ladies footballers who were narrowly defeated in the league final on Wed last, success is no doubt not far away for this talented team. The minor footballers defeated Cois Na Gaels in Croom by 4 points in a high scoring game on Mon evening. On Fri evening our minor hurlers lost out at home to Knockainey.
The senior hurlers made the trip to Kerry to take on Ardfert on Thur evening and came through a physical game while playing some outstanding hurling. In goal Damien Sexton played well as did all the backs in front of him, Peter Lawlor and Marcus Cregan were well on top in midfield and Johnny Barry with the rest of the forwards took some fine scores, Croom ran out winners 3-19 to 1-11. Goalkeeper Ger Flynn was unlucky not to get to another Munster final after the Limerick U21 hurlers lost by a point in injury time to Tipp on Thur evening.
On Sat, in Pairc Na Gael Limericks admirable servant and Croom clubman John Galvin gave a powerful performance scoring a goal and a point in the defeat of Meath, the club would like to wish John and the rest of the footballers the best of luck against Kildare. Results of our weekly lotto are available on our website at www.croomgaa.com. The junior hurlers take on Effin in Ballyagran on Sun at 12.30pm and the U21 hurlers face Blackrock in Croom on Tue 29th at 7.30pm.
23/06/08
The club would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the Kiely family on the untimely passing of Martin, the second youngest of five brothers who played for Croom when we last won the Senior football county championship in 1983. Martin who played minor hurling for Limerick was a gifted sportsman and whether it was hurling or football, he always gave his all, Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
Our senior hurlers defeated Garryspillane in Croom on Tue last on a scoreline of 1-18 to 0-14 in an exciting game in which Padraig Beehan gave a man of the match performance. At home on Wed the junior hurlers overcame Fedamore by 3 points after a fiercely contested game, well done to all. On Fri evening, the senior hurlers travelled to Dromina in Cork and after an enduring challenge match, won out by 2-23 to 1-17, best for Croom were Ger Flynn, Niall and Peter Cregan, Patsy and Stevie Cahill.
Results of the weekly lotto, 1, 16, 20, 23, No winner. €40 lucky dip winners (1) Peter Lawlor, c/o Eoin O'Farrell. (2) N + F, c/o R. Griffin. (3) Eileen Trant, c/o Con Lucey. (4) Kaci Flynn Ahern, Carrigeen. (5) Eileen McNamara, Honeypound. Next weeks Jackpot €9,200, draw to be held in Storans Bar.

Since the turn of the Millennium, Croom have competed at the highest level in senior hurling coming close on three occasions, with two narrow semi-final and last seasons final defeat. Our footballers have also competed strongly but have failed to regain senior status again, coming close in 2000 when beaten in the intermediate final by Gerald Griffins.
Pairc na nGael on the Church Road in Croom has been home to our club for almost 120 years and was one of the first venues in the country to have flood lights erected for training purposes, it was also the venue over the years for many county championship games because of its central location. Before the development of the Gaelic Grounds, Croom also hosted National league games and credit must go to the many grounds people who have given their time and effort over the years.
12/05/08
Congratulations to our Senior Hurlers who recorded an emphatic win over Knockaine in Bruff on Sun last, Croom led from the start and with Stevie Cahill turning in a man of the match performance we were not going to be caught. Other players to shine were Mickey Cahill, Marcus Cregan, Peter Cregan and John Barry.
The Club would like to wish a speedy recovery to Mark Reidy who had a recent operation in Croom Hospital.
7/05/08
