It was a busy week on the playing front for us with our U14 hurlers taking on Old Christians in Fedamore on Mon evening last in the county semi-final. The game ended in a thrilling draw with a replay now needed.
The minor hurlers were in action in the south semi-final against Castletown/Ballyagran on Thur evening last in Bruff. It was a much closer game than a few weeks ago but Croom still got the better of our near neighbours.
Our high flying junior hurlers travelled to take on Athlacca last Fri in the league. It was a tough encounter with never more than a few points between the teams at any stage. In the end we just came up short with Athlacca winning by two points on a scoreline of 4-08 to 1-15.
On Sat our senior hurlers travelled to Claughan to take on Ahane in the quarter final of the newly formed county senior hurling cup. From the throw in it was obvious that Croom meant business and the intensity that had been missing in the early stages of the championship was back. We won all the scraps, hunted in packs & took the game to Ahane. Croom took the lead and held it from start to finish winning on a scoreline of 2-16 to 0-09.
Well done to the community games soccer team made up of players from Croom, Banogue & Manister and their coaches Declan Sheerin & Liam Cregan who finished third in Athlone last weekend.
Finally, congratulations to Chris Sexton & Jackie on the birth of their daughter Sofie.
